Morningside Place
2022
ARCH 542 Kevin Stevens
Located on the controversial site of a former urban renewal project in the Morningside community in Knoxville, TN, Morningside Place is designed to revitalize this underutilized land as well as memorialize the history of the area. Acting as a gathering point for residents of the Morningside community, this space allows locals to express themselves in a way that will draw in visitors from surrounding areas and bring life back to the neighborhood. This institution endeavors to promote three critical practices: education, reflection, and expression as it seeks to become a living and interactive monument to the people and history of Morningside.
Located on the site of the Knoxville Civic Auditorium, Morningside Place attempts to bring new life and use to this underutilized lot.
