ARCH 571 Maged Guerguis

This project utilized the abandoned site of Knoxville’s Old Standard Knitting Mill to create a mixed-use commercial and residential building that provides a space to live, work, and gather in the primarily residential area. Built in 1900, Old Standard Knitting Mill is one of Knoxville’s oldest buildings and therefore some degree of preservation was desired. Old and new elements are woven together in this design to create a space that exceeds the needs and expectations of the community while at the same time honoring the site’s history.
